Where do you currently work, how long have you been there, what do you do?
I currently work for the University of Phoenix as a Senior Enrollment Representative. The majority of what my job consists of is helping students with degree selection, career counseling, admissions and financing paperwork. I sit on 2 different committees at this time as well where I am responsible for reviewing and improving current standardized email templates for students as well as developing fun and engaging events for employees, like team builders and volunteer activities. I just made my 9 year workaversary in July! I regularly volunteer at Shriners Hospital for Children in their central activity area with the recreation and child life crew. I also sit on the Philanthropy committee with Metro EDGE!
Prior to that?
Previously, I worked as a language and behavior therapist with children with autism. I served as an in-home therapist and school aid for my clients. I spent time as a therapist at a local high school and worked with students who had behavioral and emotional needs and students who had disciplinary problems.
What is your educational background?
I earned my Bachelors in Psychology from Sacramento State University and went on to earn my Masters in Counseling: Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix. I am currently working on my Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership degree through the University of Phoenix as well.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job, is helping my students reach their goals! I get the opportunity to see students from start to finish; beginning their programs to completing their degrees and then going out and applying for the jobs and promotions they never dreamed they'd ever qualify for!
What do you love about living here?
Sacramento is such a melting pot of people, opportunities, and adventure. There is always a new experience around the corner!
What is one thing that might surprise people about you?
I am a phenomenal baker (in my humble opinion lol)!! I generally bake something once a week, always from scratch.
When you aren't in the office where can we find you?
If I can help it, on a beach somewhere. I love the ocean, the sand, the waves. Definitely my happy place! I also recently started my own home cleaning business (heavenly hands cleaning services), so if I'm not at the beach, you can definitely find me doing work there.
