Missy McDougall
Manager, Programs and Events
Sacramento Metro Chamber
Where do you currently work, how long have you been there, what do you do?
I am currently a Program and Events Manager for the Sacramento Metro Chamber. I work with an amazing team at the chamber, where my primary role is to manage our community programs and help them be the best they can be.
I get to work with some of the best people through membership management, event management, and overall support of Metro EDGE, Leadership Sacramento and Inspire Giving.
As of October 1st, I celebrated my one-year Sacramento Metro “Chamber-versary”, and I couldn’t be happier!
I also teach a class one night per week at Sacramento State. The class is “Theory of Sport and Fitness Management” and the focus is education on the business side of sport. It is fun and challenging to find new ways to promote learning for real-life application.
Prior to that?
I had the honor of working for Sacramento Republic FC, in Business Development, during the 2014 Inaugural season. Prior to that, I worked for my alma mater within fundraising and events, for Sacramento State Athletics. Both were awesome experiences!
What is your educational background?
I received my bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communications from Sacramento State (#StingersUp) and received my Master’s Degree in Sport Management, from the University of San Francisco.
What is the best part of your job?
I love what I do, the relationships I get to build, and how I always learn something new.
Most of all, I value that I feel I am making an impact, within a city that I care most about!
What do you love about living here?
No matter where you go or what you do, you are bound to run into someone you know. I think that is so neat! And beyond that, if you do not know someone, when you start a conversation with him or her, you will most likely find a mutual connection. Because of that, Sacramento really emphasizes the value of your relationships, and I love that!
What is one thing that might surprise people about you?
As a soccer player, I was very competitive and played hard. In college, I almost had to sit out a game for accumulation of yellow cards. My teammates would joke that when I stepped on the pitch, I was no longer “Missy”…. I was “Misdemeanor”. 🙂
When you aren't in the office where can we find you?
You will most likely find me out on the soccer field, supporting my husband as he coaches the Sacramento State Men’s Soccer Team, or his Competitive Boys Soccer Team. I LOVE watching him coach! He has such a gift, and supporting him in his passion, makes my heart full.
