In support of May is Bike Month and the desire of many young professionals to build livable/walkable communities, Matt Winkler, Operations General Supervisor for the Sacramento Department of Public Works, will be on hand to discuss the Sacramento parklet plan.
According the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, parklets are all the rage in urban design. The small park-like modular structures are typically installed in on-street parking spaces and can be configured in a way to fit any needs and to serve a variety of purposes. Most are used as an extension of side-walk space allowing businesses to create outdoor seating, as well as other amenities such as planters, benches, or bike racks.
We are also reaching out to walking and cycling organizations and businesses to support additional event programming. Details will be finalized this week. So come and mix and mingle with Sacramento’s finest young professionals and be sure to enjoy the food and drink specials!
Due to the continuing increase in registration at the In the Mix events, non-member registration is $15, BUT that cost will be deducted from the cost of membership, if you join at the event. Or join now and avoid the hassle at the door!
