2017 was a record year for EDGE in terms of our giving. As an organization, our members and sponsors donated over $10,000 to our 2016 beneficiary, Next Move. That annual donation more than doubled the previous record for Metro EDGE. In addition to the funds raised, the Community Engagement committee spent the year learning more about homelessness in the Sacramento region and hosted the first ever EDGE Issue Immersion Day to help EDGE-ucate our members.
As a key takeaway from last year’s EDGE survey, we will focus on the issue of Transportation in 2017. Starting with a session at this year’s EMERGE Summit we will highlight the “culture of transportation” here in the region. The summit session will include four awesome panelists who will delve into the issue and discuss hot button topics currently impacting the region. Panelists include: Jennifer Donlon Wyant, a City Active Transportation Specialist with the City of Sacramento, Kirin Kumar the Interim Executive Director with WALKSacramento, David Nelson, a former Chair and current member of the Roseville Transportation Commission, and Sam Shelton, a Senior Analyst with the Sacramento Area Council of Governments. The committee will also host an Issue Immersion Day this coming August and is working on other opportunities to engage with our members on this important issue!
