Metro EDGE Young Professional of the Year Award
The Metro EDGE Young Professional of the Year Award recognizes a member of Metro EDGE who has made exceptional and sustained contributions to the Sacramento region and business community.
Meet the 2013 Metro EDGE Young Professional of the Year:
Erika Bjork, VP of Marketing and Communications, Sacramento Republic FC
A founding member of Metro EDGE, in 2013 Erika fervently advocated for issues important to young professionals ranging from regional branding efforts to local economic development programs, and the cultivation of a vibrant downtown – in particular the development of a state-of-the-art entertainment and sports complex.
As a standout participant on the Metro Chamber’s 2013 Study Mission program to Philadelphia, Erika brought back the JFDI (Just F*ing Do It) mindset centered on the willingness to act that quickly spread across the region, spanning multiple generations. Paying those lessons forward in a series of articles for Comstock’s Magazine last year, she initiated and elevated conversations important to young professionals.
Also a multifaceted executive with more than 19 years of experience in sports, destination marketing and community development, Erika has worked with athletes, teams and national brands to create raving fans in cities across Northern California. Now the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Sacramento Republic FC, Erika has returned to her sports marketing roots and is focused on bringing professional soccer to a region that loves to play and watch the sport.
Erika is also a member of the Metro Chamber’s Civic Amenities Committee; Sacramento Tomorrow Task Force; and, in 2013 named “40 Under 40” by the Sacramento Business Journal.
