URGENT- Day On the EDGE- POSTPONED

Due to COVID-19 Concerns, River City Food Bank has postponed Empty Bowls. 

Per Mary Martin-Mabry, Empty Bowls Volunteer Coordinator:

Given the heightened concern around COVID-19 and the recommendations from the California Department of Public Health to cancel all large “non-essential” gatherings, River City Food Bank has decided to postpone our Empty Bowls Event.

We appreciate all of your help and ongoing support. Though we are disappointed, River City Food Bank believes this is the right decision and it is more important than ever that we serve our community amid growing concerns. If you have purchased tickets for either the Monday or Tuesday event, you will get a separate email with detailed information.

Day on the EDGE is a volunteer opportunity to engage our amazing EDGErs on March 16^th-17^th. The event is with River City Food Bank who is hosting their annual, “Empty Bowls” event at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium.

WHAT IS EMPTY BOWLS?
2020 marks the 17th annual Empty Bowls event. Empty Bowls, River City Food Bank’s largest fundraiser of the year, is a humble, community-based affair. The event draws nearly 1,300 diverse attendees, including local businesses, healthcare organizations, government officials and community leaders, to address our unified effort to reduce hunger in Sacramento County. The attendees gather to share soup provided by local restaurants and served by some of our most recognized community leaders. The event is a reminder of the men, women and children experiencing hunger among us. All attendees take home a local artist’s hand-crafted bowl, which represents a household struggling with hunger.

• March 16, 2020 | 5:30-8pm - Dinner
  March 17, 2020 | 11:30-1:30pm -Luncheon
• While Empty Bowls is a two day event, EDGErs can sign up for a singular shift on either day. There are several different shifts and roles available
