The Best Weekend Ever project continues with our third group taking over July 3 -5! Follow along this Independence Day Weekend as the Global Shapers - Sacramento share how they take advantage of a three days off, Sactown style.
Global Shapers - Sacrameto is an initiative of the World Economic Forum and these millennials are exceptional in their potential, their achievement and their drive to make a contribution to their communities. We only gave them 3 days, to showcase 9 places, with 6 people ... Think they can do it?!
Friday
Shapers are united by a common desire to channel members’ tremendous energy and enthusiasm into building a more peaceful and inclusive world. What better way to start the day than centering ourselves with yoga at Sand Cove Park Beach. You can also catch Kelly out at the Folsom Rodeo for early fireworks and family fun. From mutton busting to live music, the rodeo is kicked off by the arrival of the American Flag by parachute. Last, but not least, in the spirit of our Sacramento Hub, where we develop and enhance members' professional and leadership skills, Tera will show you a little bit of what she does best.
Saturday
On this true American holiday, Justin kicks off the morning by exploring West Sacramento to join other weekend warriors in art and DIY projects. Rubie brings the bang by celebrating Fourth of July like a midtown dweller with a courtyard block party BBQ and River Cats game ending in *FIREWORKS*. While the hot dogs are sizzling and America is celebrating its Independence, Kai will also be celebrating his 21st birthday. Check out our late night post, as he enters the downtown scene bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Sunday
After an action packed Saturday, Rey, Arielle, and Bianca bring the zen. Start your morning with Arielle as she takes you to her favorite tea spot, Temple Coffee Roasters, to sip on some loose leaf libations. Then, follow Rey as he gets in touch with the outdoors and brainstorms for our upcoming projects on water sustainability, education, and philanthropy. As for Bianca; she likes living in the moment. You will have to wait until Sunday to see what this adventurer has in store.
Want to be a part of the group? The Hub accepts applications all year round, holding interviews twice a year. The summer round of interviews is about to start so if you're interested, get your application in by the end of July.
