Happy New Year EDGErs! It’s 2015, and I’m excited that we as young professionals (YPs) continue to make our presence felt in the “NEW” Sacramento region. We are part of the leading demographic that is creating real and positive change in our region.
Looking back on 2014, the #YearofYP was a monumental year for young professionals in the Sacramento region. We accomplished some outstanding feats under the leadership of 2014 program chair Emilie Cameron and a remarkable Leadership Council. Metro EDGE hosted the regions 1st Annual EMERGE Summit for YPs, which attracted more than 500 attendees. Additionally, we once again gathered a group of the regions top executives to converse with EDGErs only at another successful Executive Insight. We celebrated five years of YP leadership at the EDGE 916, held several outstanding programs during our monthly “In the Mix” events, and put our money where our heart is through support of exciting regional happenings like the TBD Fest and the local art project “Bright Underbelly.“
In 2015, I fully expect EDGErs to continue to raise the bar. The theme for 2015 is “Own It!” Own your career, own your community, own your city … OWN IT!
Expect BIGGER and BETTER in 2015. Metro Edge will offer more diverse and innovative events as well as creative programming for its members in the new year. Look for Metro EDGE in 2015 to increase community engagement, create more professional development opportunities and strengthen regional partnerships. To make this happen, we need your help - as a member-based organization, Metro EDGE is only as valuable as its members make it.
Check out our NEW website for more information about Metro EDGE, our events, and committees and follow us on social media for the latest updates. Don’t hesitate to contact me directly to tell me about your experience in Metro EDGE or if you have questions, comments, or concerns.
I look forward to meeting you! #OwnIt
