SACRAMENTO -- Metro EDGE today announced Ryan Porter, senior project engineer at Rudolph Sletten, Inc., as its new chair. Porter replaces Sean O’Brien, financial advisor for Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, who served as chair for 2012, and remains a member of the Leadership Council.
“As a founding member, Ryan has been instrumental in contributing to Metro EDGE’s success and growth,” said O’Brien. “He has a very strong vision of EDGE’s future and the needed drive to get us there.”
Elected in 2012, Porter became Chair of Metro EDGE in January 2013.
“I’m excited to take on this new role as chair. We are in a great position to continue our momentum, increase awareness of Metro EDGE’s mission among Sacramento’s young professionals, build our membership and philanthropic activities and reinforce the idea that Metro EDGE represents Sacramento’s future,” said Porter. “We are ready to contribute to Sacramento’s growth and tackle the challenge of branding Sacramento as a destination city for smart, young, motivated people.”
“Ryan is an incredibly motivated individual who is capable of highlighting Sacramento as the dynamic region it is,” said Roger Niello, president and CEO of the Sacramento Metro Chamber. “I’m happy to see this program actively engaged in the success of the business community. They are the future of the Metro Chamber and our region.”
A graduate from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Porter also grew up in the Sacramento area and carries a strong passion for highlighting Sacramento as a center for business and ensuring its economic vitality. For the last six years, Porter has managed the construction and remodel of multiple projects on the Kaiser Roseville Medical Campus. He was also a Top 40 Under 40 finalist by the Sacramento Business Journal in 2011 and 2012.
