Metro EDGE, the young professional program of the Metro Chamber, is letting its constituents take over the Capitol by giving up control of their Twitter handle @MetroEDGE to individual members for the next three weeks.
That means EDGE members are tweeting away to more than 4,000 followers, practically unchecked by the official EDGE twitter handlers.
“The goal of the program is to amplify the voice of the young professional in Sacramento, showcasing our diverse lives and rounding out the picture of who we are.” said Phil Tretheway, creative director at Position Interactive, Metro EDGE member and the first to “take over” the account.
2014 has been declared the Year of the Young Professional and March is being proclaimed Young Professionals Month by cities and counties throughout our region.
This is a glimpse into who these individuals are, how they contribute to our city and the many unique voices of the young professional. The takeover will offer an insider’s perspective from the Folsom campus of tech giant Intel; the front offices of the Sacramento Kings; and even a look into the prestigious James Beard House in New York, where Mulvaney’s B&L has been invited to cook. A few Sacramento breweries will probably be visited as well.
The #twittertakeover leads into the EMERGE Summit on March 21, Sacramento’s first summit to gather more than 500 young professionals to share ideas, learn professional skills and inspire civic participation.
