The Metro EDGE Philanthropy Committee led the way with the group’s first “open committee” meeting to date. The purpose of holding an open meeting was to provide an opportunity for other Metro EDGE members to get more involved in the day-to-day and behind-the-scenes planning for all the various EDGE activities. Currently, the Philanthropy Committee is hard at work planning for their fundraiser: “A Day On The EDGE” – set for this summer 7-10-10. The fundraiser is going to include a dodgeball tournament, daytime picnic games, a beer garden, and bands – all in the name of raising money for Sacramento State’s Educational Opportunity Program. The Committee’s open meeting invitation brought in four new eager and engaged EDGErs who are going to join the committee’s work to prepare for the fundraiser. The new recruits also enjoyed the tasty fare available at the lunch meeting at Texas Mex Restaurant downtown! The Philanthropy Committee is glad to have a few more sets of hands to help out in hammering out the details, recruiting sponsors, and ensuring that the “Day On The EDGE” is a huge success.
The next open committee meeting is with our Professional Development Committee and is scheduled for April 27, at 5:30 pm at the offices of Perry-Smith LLP (400 Capitol Mall, Suite 1200). Upcoming events will be discussed and the Committee will hold a brainstorming session on topics for upcoming events. Bring your ideas!
These open meetings will provide ongoing opportunities for EDGE members to get more involved and help further the goals and activities that the organization is working on. We welcome your participation, and hope to see you at the next open meeting!
